East Hartford, CT (March 13, 2022) – Four people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash that took place on I-84 in Connecticut early Sunday morning, March 13.
Authorities responded to westbound I-84 near the Exit 56 off-ramp around 1:50 a.m. According to initial reports released by Connecticut State Police, the driver of a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck a 2002 Toyota Carolla from behind.
The impact of the collision caused the Hyundai to roll over and the Toyota spin off the roadway. The driver of the Toyota, identified as a 21-year-old woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Two passengers in the Toyota, a 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman, were taken to the hospital but sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 23-year-old Hartford man, was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but police asked witnesses or any drivers with dashcam footage who were traveling in the area to contact Trooper Michael Dean.
