Waterbury, CT (February 24, 2022) – A serious truck accident shut down a portion of a roadway in Waterbury on Thursday afternoon, February 24.
Officers with the Waterbury Police Department said that the incident happened just before 5:00 p.m. on westbound Interstate 84 before Exit 23 to Route 69. According to Connecticut Department of Transportation officials, at least two vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved in the collision.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area while police investigated. EMS units were also on the scene and appeared to transport at least one person to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. However, the total number of victims, as well as their current conditions, is unknown.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
