Glastonbury, CT (January 8, 2022) – A two-unit condominium on Hollister Way in Glastonbury is a total loss after a fire broke out on Friday evening, January 8.
Glastonbury Fire Chief Michael Thurz said that a few residents experienced minor injuries, as well as slips and falls, as a result of the incident.
He added that the fire affected both units of the building, and it reportedly started as a chimney fire.
Firefighters were eventually able to extinguish the blaze, but those who lived in the building were displaced. The victims’ current conditions are also unknown.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims, their families, and everyone else affected by this fire.
Residential Fires in Connecticut
Unfortunately, residential fire deaths or burn injuries can occur at any time in almost any situation. Firefighters, electricians, line cooks, and even small children have an increased risk of being severely or fatally injured.
When fires result in burn injuries or death at home, a landlord or contractor could be found negligent for having an outdated electrical system that goes on fire and injures a resident.
Even if your burn injury seems trivial, burn victims are extremely vulnerable to serious infections and hospitalizations.
Regardless of whether you sustained first, second, or third-degree burns, you could have injuries serious enough to adversely impact the rest of your life. If you have been injured due to someone’s careless or negligent behavior, speak with a Connecticut personal injury attorney about a personal injury claim. If you wait too long, you might miss your opportunity.
Burn injuries can seriously affect victims and their families. Without warning, you could find yourself facing a protracted and painful recovery. You might be unable to return to work and, without any income, frustrated and stressed about how you are going to pay your hospital bills.
In addition to this, the insurance carrier may deny your claim, or even blame you for the fire. If somebody else was responsible for your burn injuries, you may be entitled to seek economic recovery for your damages.
