Greenwich, CT (November 22, 2021) – A New York man was hit by a passing car on Interstate 95 and suffered major injuries early Saturday morning, November 20, according to reports from Connecticut State Police.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m., troopers were dispatched to southbound I-95 near the exit 5 off-ramp for a reported auto-pedestrian wreck.
Initial reports indicate that a Norwalk man driving on I-95 was unable to stop in time and hit the driver of another motor vehicle in the right lane. The man was standing next to his vehicle after an earlier minor crash, a police report noted.
The 50-year-old Port Chester man was conscious and breathing but suffered head injuries and severe trauma to his right leg, the police report said. EMS units transported him to Stamford Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The other two drivers involved suffered only minor injuries.
Officials are investigating, though they said no additional information was immediately available at this time.
