Middlebury, CT (April 8, 2022) – One man is dead and another person was seriously injured after a head-on crash took place on I-84 Thursday morning, April 7.
The crash happened around 7:00 a.m., per reports from Connecticut State Police. A 72-year-old man from Naugatuck was driving a 2021 Subaru Outback when it crossed the median and center lanes, drifting into westbound I-84 and striking another driver in a 2018 Honda Accord Touring.
The first driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver in the Honda, also an adult male, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He remains in serious condition, according to officers.
The crash is under investigation, though any witnesses who saw the accident are asked to call Trooper John Augelli in Southbury.
