Milford, CT (February 11, 2022) – An injury auto accident occurred on Interstate 95 on Friday evening, February 11, according to police at the scene.
Paramedics rushed at least one person to an area medical center after the wreck, which involved multiple vehicles on I-95.
Connecticut State Police added that troopers responded to the southbound lanes of the highway, close to Exit 40 to Woodmont Road, for a reported wreck. Rescue units arrived at the area around 9:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered that two cars had collided.
Most victims sustained minor injuries, with one person requiring further treatment at the hospital. Officials shut down the highway to traffic for about two hours. The crash remains under investigation by police, however, and officers have not released further information at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
Auto Accidents in Connecticut
Connecticut authorities say the number of people who died on the state’s roads in 2020 was the highest since 2016.
According to data released by the Connecticut Transportation Safety Research Center, speed is the top cause of the majority of these deadly accidents.
In fact, police reported more than 80,000 traffic accidents, generally caused by speeding or reckless driving.
Thankfully, most of these incidents are preventable. However, wrecks continue to rise year over year. And the victims must endure tragic circumstances as a result.
Unfortunately, many of these victims undergo emergency medical treatment and spend weeks or even months in recovery. To add insult to injury, victims often require costly physical therapy, time-consuming treatment for emotional trauma, and more.
