Rider Classes CT

Here in Connecticut, the state and local governments generally agree that increased rider awareness and training is a vital component to ensuring that the motorcycle riders in our state remain safe on our roads.

At Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers, we agree that rider education is paramount to helping motorcyclists be aware of the potential dangers on our roads, along with knowing how to handle those situations when riding.

COMMON AREAS COVERED IN RIDING CLASSES

Most rider learning centers provide a range of classes in order to cater to the different levels of rider ability. Most institutions include three primary types of courses:

  • Basic Learning  these classes often teach riders about rider awareness, the types of protective clothing that riders can wear (including how they protect a rider) and some basic accident avoidance techniques. These classes also often consist of a combination of classroom and practical instruction.
  • Intermediate  a step up from the Basic Learning level classes, intermediate classes provide riders with techniques for motorcycle braking, evasive maneuvers and different cornering techniques that can be used on the streets.
  • Experienced/Instructor Training  often the highest level of rider classes available, these courses add to the topics covered in the “basic” and “intermediate” classes, often adding skill and knowledge evaluation tests, motorcycle maintenance tips and learning specific techniques on your own motorcycle – covering areas that include managing traction and how to stop in emergency conditions.

It’s important to note that many classes will have a standard list of prerequisites that riders must meet in order to be able to attend.
