Stamford, CT – Woman Dead, Two Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on I-95 SB

Stamford, CT (October 17, 2021) – A Waterbury woman died after a crash that occurred on Sunday morning, October 17, according to reports from authorities.

The wreck occurred around 2:45 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 95. At that time, the driver of a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck was traveling in the center lane when the driver of a Toyota Rav4 hit them head-on. The Toyota driver was traveling in the wrong direction.

The driver of the Rav4, identified as a 39-year-old woman from Waterbury, was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police said that the driver and passenger in the pickup were transported by ambulance to Stamford Hospital with injuries.

All lanes were closed for a couple of hours while police investigated the crash but have since reopened.

Investigators are continuing to piece together the events causing the wreck but ask anyone with information to contact Trooper Lebron-Hernandez of the State Police barracks in Bridgeport.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.

Deadly Vehicle Accidents in Stamford

Stamford, CT - Woman Dead, Two Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on I-95 SB

According to Connecticut officials, the number of people killed on roadways statewide in 2020 alone was at its highest since 2016. And per the Transportation Safety Research Center, speed is the leading cause of most of these fatal collisions.

In fact, police reported more than 80,000 traffic accidents, generally caused by drivers breaking traffic laws. Authorities cited speeding, reckless driving, and DUI as top contributors to serious collisions.

Most of these Connecticut vehicle accidents are preventable. However, wrecks continue to rise year over year. And unfortunately, the victims of these incidents must endure tragic circumstances as a result.

Sadly, many of these victims undergo emergency medical treatment and spend weeks or even months in recovery. To make things even worse, victims often require costly physical therapy, time-consuming treatment for emotional trauma, and more.

When people sustain serious injuries in accidents caused by the actions of other motorists, they should reach out to an auto accident attorney in Stamford as soon as possible. Compensation may be available to help with the financial burdens you are now facing.
