Tolland, CT – Man Injured in Soldream Welding Accident at 203 Hartford Trnpke

Tolland, CT (April 5, 2022) – A man was injured at a local welding facility on Monday, April 4, and was transported to a trauma center, Tolland Fire Chief John Littell said.

The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. at Soldream Inc., a Vernon-based manufacturing company. The welding facility is located at 203 Hartford Turnpike in Tolland, Littell added. Firefighters were dispatched, and Connecticut State Police troopers also responded to the scene for assistance.

The Connecticut Department of Labor’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health has been notified of the incident, though Littell said that no other details about the man or the nature of his injury were immediately available.

The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victim and his family. We hope for his complete recovery.

Workplace Accidents in Connecticut

Tolland, CT - Man Injured in Soldream Welding Accident at 203 Hartford TrnpkeIn the last few decades, the majority of work-related injuries and deaths have decreased overall, thanks to the prioritization of workplace health and safety measures. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA), these occupational fatalities have fallen by nearly a third, from almost 40 per day in 1970 to 15 or fewer each day in 2019.

However, workplace accidents still occur, and the victims of these incidents experience physical injuries, emotional trauma, lost wages, and more.

Whether employees slip and fall, hurt themselves using faulty equipment or make contact with dangerous equipment or materials, they pay a steep price in the aftermath of a workplace accident.

Furthermore, these workplace accidents are largely preventable. When employers take the proper precautions and follow OSHA’s guidelines, their employees are at a much lower risk of suffering workplace injuries or even dying in work accidents.

And per Connecticut law, employers must file a report with the Workers’ Compensation Commission each time an employee has suffered a work-related injury or illness that results in one or more days of absence from work. Moreover, if an employer fails to file this report as required, the workers’ compensation commissioner may increase the employee’s final compensation award.

But if you have concerns about your claim or have questions about how to best move forward from your accident, it’s prudent to retain legal counsel as soon as possible. Ensuring you safeguard your legal rights by consulting an experienced injury attorney in Connecticut is vital after you’ve suffered in a workplace accident.
