Groton, CT (February 12, 2022) – Police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that happened on a stretch of I-95 early Saturday morning, February 12.
Around 8:30 a.m., the incident happened on the northbound side of I-95 near Exit 89 in Groton. A bus was reportedly traveling in the right lane when it hit a pedestrian, according to troopers with the Connecticut State Police.
Emergency responders transported the victim, a 38-year-old male, to a nearby hospital in New London, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Several passengers on the bus were also transported to area hospitals, though they were under evaluation for minor to moderate injuries, per official reports.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact State Police Troop E in Montville. The investigation remains active at this time.
