Derby, CT (November 16, 2021) – Firefighters had to extricate one person after a crash that occurred on Monday, November 15, according to officials.
Around 5:00 p.m., crews responded to the wreck on Sodom Lane, near the Lowe’s exit, and discovered a two-vehicle collision with extensive damage. Police said one of the vehicles also collided with the exit ramp guardrail.
Fire officials had to extricate one of the individuals from their vehicle and added that one of the drivers, who had sustained serious injuries, was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment. A dog in the car was taken by animal control to be watched while the owner recovers. The other driver involved refused medical treatment.
Police Lt. Salvatore Forsceno said investigators found that one of the drivers did not yield the right of way while coming out of the Lowe’s property onto Sodom Lane.
The investigation is ongoing, however, and further details have not been released.
