Norwalk, CT (September 13, 2021) – An acrobat fell while performing at this year’s Oyster Festival in Norwalk on Saturday, September 11, and suffered serious injuries, according to officers.
Police said the acrobat artist fell nearly 30 feet while performing in the air around 4:00 p.m. The performer, identified only as a man from East Bradenton, Florida, fell from the top of a prop used in a pirate performance. Authorities did not say if any other performers sustained injuries in the incident.
Officers with the Norwalk Police Department and first responders from Norwalk Fire & Rescue arrived shortly after 4:00 p.m. Organizers held the 2021 Oyster Festival at Veteran’s Memorial Park and Marina in Norwalk.
EMS treated the acrobat and then transported him to Norwalk Hospital via ambulance for critical care. He remains hospitalized in serious condition, and the extent of his injuries is unknown. However, medical authorities expect him to recover.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. Officers have not released further details at this time.
